Would've been a good budget motel had the person in the front office thought it was in their job discription to do something about the bunch of people that decided to gather around the stairs, drink beer, play loud music, and in broken English, cat call every young women who was unfortunate enough to need to use those stairs. Not exactly what you look forwad to at the end of a long trip when you feel wornout and tired and just wanna lay down. The men told my wife this was THEIR regular hangout spot and from what she gathered they were long term guests who probably did this frequently. One night was enough for us. It wouldve been an easy thing to fix. Sexual harrassment should be a proity. Especially when multiple guests complian that they're being harrassed. Until they clean up a bit, If you're a women I wouldn't reccomend this place.
We stopped in town to visit our grandson who was doing a 10 week internship at the University!. He loves this city and is enjoying his summer here. We chose this place as it was a busy weekend and our other choices were full. This place was ok, clean, and serviceable. The price is reasonable and we were able to sleep before continuing home the next morning. It also, turned out to be right across from the Uni!
When you need simple and clean this is a place that fits the bill; after all for most travelers, the wining and dining happens on the town and the only need here is to have a dry place to lay your head. This is it. Professional staff, efficient and organized. I stayed over while having house work done, its just fine.
The "bed" in my room was unbelievable! One of the railings for the mattress was left dangerously pulled out about 18 inches from the so-called bed --- and, on the side where the little table and chairs where, so I attempted to get into the bed from that side. The dang railing hung out so far that I tripped on it and hurt my back. The Train Tracks are right behind this place! Trains so loud 4-5 times during the night! Woke me up! Then some "guests" staying two rooms down from me woke me up about 3 am yelling and fighting. I had the misfortune of seeing this place first when just deciding last night to stay over in Eugene instead of going back home on the coast because I wasn't feeling well. Well, I would have gotten much more sleep if I had driven back home last night! This morning I called the office to request a late check out for many reasons....lack of sleep last night and my back was hurting from tripping on the dang bed railing! I was given the "courtesy" of an extra 30 MINUTES! When I complained at the front desk about being hurt and that I did not feel as though I should have to pay the full price of the room due to their negligence causing me to be hurt. WOW!!!!!! The RUDE clerk at front desk did not even apologize for me being hurt and just told me she "did not have the authority to "comp" my room or otherwise discount the rate. I would have to write to the Corporate Headquarters." Then she proceeded to run my debit card for the price of the room. I stated to her that I did not give my permission to run that charge, that's when she really got nasty! She showed me the little form that I filled out when I arrived the night before and gruffly told me that I signed the form last night! Real hateful like. Gee, makes you wonder how many times other "guests" have wanted their money refunded? Why do they wait until the next morning at check out to run the credit card??????? Horrible horrible place. Even if you have to sleep in your car, you would be better off than staying here. On top of everything else, it wasn't very clean. I found change and some food pieces on the floor at the foot of the bed. ULGH Only nice thing I have to say about the place is that the lady that checked me in last night was nice and courteous.....very unlike the check out lady the next morning.
I've been staying at the motel 66 in Eugene on a regular basis for four years. It wasn't ever much to shout about but it was clean, cheap, and friendly. It is no longer any of the above. The last time I stayed there it was filthy, the desk person was rude, and there was a dead rat outside our door. This time we never checked in. They had raised the rates. note: it was not a football weekend or anything else and we got a deal at the Campus Inn that was no more expensive. Whoever owns the place has clearly given up on running anything decently. I'm easy going, we travel a lot and don't expect much but a reasonably comfortable place to sleep. The Motel 66 in Eugene is not it.
