Clear Lake Resort is a seven-acre cabin facility on the banks of a springfed mountain lake. The resort includes 16 cabins (both modern and rustic), a restaurant and lodge, shower house, a boat launch facility for non-motorized craft, rowboats for rent, and 240 feet of dock. The lake, believed to have been created by volcanic activity, is extremely clear and feeds into the McKenzie River. Motorized craft are not allowed on the lake. The resort is open year round.

Mesmerizing stop between Idaho & the Oregon Coast
Quick stop driving from Idaho to the Oregon Coast. We brought paddle boards and made this stop, the mid-way break point. What a fantastic idea! It was gorgeous and crystal clear with butterflies everywhere! Food was yummy and service very friendly. It was bustling on a mid-Friday afternoon but still plenty of places to sit with several picnic benches and lots of shaded areas. You can rent little metal boats and kayaks but your best bet is to bring your own kayak or paddle board to really enjoy yourself. You can’t go wrong even if you only stop for an hour it’s well worth paying the $9 day use park fee upon entry. You cannot use an Oregon Parks Passport at this park.

Sewage smell ruined our trip
As other reviews mentioned, the lake itself is gorgeous. It gets a bit busy midday with day trippers, but morning and evenings are peaceful. We stayed in a yurt, and normally I would have given a 4 or 5 star review. The yurt (number 3) itself is nice, and the central bathrooms are OK. The problem is the awful sewage smell that happens every couple hours. I found raw sewage flowing about 30 feet behind our yurt out of the ground. The staff was aware of it and said the sewage system needs work and is overstressed by guests but there doesn't seem to be any urgency or possibly money to get it fixed. We asked to be moved to another unit but they were full and did not offer a refund. They should not be renting that yurt knowing the problem! Even other cabins near there get a whiff now and then, but nothing like the stench we experienced. We won't be staying there again until they fix their system.

Great Lake - Good to get away
This is not a place where you are going to finest linens or the best amenities...if you know that going in - and you are looking for a place where you can see some great sights of nature - than this is a good bet. The cabins are either modern (electricity and a toilet) or rustic (no toilet in the cabin). The facilities do tend to fill up with people stopping in for the day - however, the early evening and early mornings can be magic! I have been coming to clear lake since the 80s. It has been developed a "bit" more and there are WAY more people coming to this little lake, but many of the same charms exist today - most of the time, just a short walk will allow you to get away from it all. It should be noted that if you are looking for a luxury resort - this is NOT your place...I should also note that clear lake is really more for those that like being close to nature and don't mind getting a bit dirty sometimes. If you like going fishing or cooking on a little burner, or just relaxing in nature - this could be your place.

Not in compliance with COVID state guidelines.
A kitchen employee was not wearing a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as required by Oregon state law. She was working at the fryer and in the prep area. When confronted the employee stated "If you don't like it you don't need to eat here".

One of Oregon's best.
We have been coming to Clear Lake since 2000 and it is on our list every year. Not only the resort and amenities but the lake and trails as well. It homes the head waters of the McKenzie River and truly is an awe inspiring place to spend time. There is always a place somewhere on the lake to find some quiet time no matter what time of year it is. Please remember to actually take the time to look at things while there. You may just find something you've never seen before.
