Oregon Trail Wagon Encampment
Explore the history of the Oregon Trail in Baker City at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. This two day celebration features an outdoor wagon encampment on flagstaff Hill outside of the Interpretive Center overlooking the Elkhorn Mountains and the ruts of the Oregon Trail running through the Baker Valley below. Living history performers including trappers, wagon masters, and emigrant families demonstrate what life was like along the Oregon Trail. The weekend’s festivities include lectures, Dutch oven cooking demonstrations, and interactive exhibits for history buffs of all ages both inside the center and outside in the wagon encampment.
