The most popular activities available at Jackson F. Kimball include camping, picnicking, fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing.

Wood River offers fine fishing that can be accessed from the park by canoe. Kimball Park offers primitive camping next to a spring-fed lagoon at the beginning of this waterway.

A walking trail connects the campground to the site where the clear spring bubbles from a rocky hillside. The park is a secluded place where you can contemplate the moment while relaxing in the whispering lodgepole pines.

Vital stats: Open Mid-April to October 31. The campground features 10 primitive sites (maximum site 45 feet), (no water).

: Climate in this region varies with elevation and from east to west. The western portions of this region experience higher precipitation and more moderate temperatures year-round. The eastern end of this region is much more arid, with warmer summer temperatures and colder winter temperatures. The higher elevations receive abundant winter snowfall which stays on the ground until early summer in the high mountains.
