We’re dreaming of relaxing getaways and curling up with a good book in front of a cozy fireplace. In Oregon our lodges not only welcome long hours of relaxation, they also operate using sustainable practices. So whether you’re looking for a quick trip or a weeklong escape, settle in at one of Oregon’s many cozy retreats – just don’t forget to bring a good book!

After a day on the mountain, fishing the rivers or exploring the towns of Central Oregon settle in at FivePine Lodge, located in Sisters. You’ll stay in a log cabin with oversized beds and custom fireplaces and can rest easy knowing that the sprawling campus was built to protect and enhance the area’s natural surroundings.

The Oxford Hotel in Bend runs on renewable energy and employs eco-friendly practices throughout, from the building materials to the room service cuisine. Switch on your gas fireplace for warmth in the room or just switch the channel on your television – the quirky resort features a channel of wood burning logs as well as a fish tank.

The Resort at the Mountain, located at the base of Mt. Hood, is recognized for their sustainable practices both on and off the luxury hotel campus. They contribute to wildlife and habitat management and the restoration of nearby fish habitats. Inside the lodge’s grand rooms there are gas fireplaces and oversized chairs – perfect for settling in with a good book. Just down the road, you can cozy up at one of the fireplaces inside the historic Timberline Lodge, which was the first ski resort in the world to be certified by the Sustainable Tourism Eco-Certification Program.

Downtown Portland is a hub for luxury green hotels, including The Heathman where you’ll find everything from biodegradable key cards to farm-fresh cuisine. Be sure to visit the historic tea court in the lobby for high tea in front of the marble fireplace.
