Anyone who has spent time in Oregon’s outdoors can attest to its inspiring moments. Creativity can hit as you gaze at rolling hills blending into a sunset; when a mighty river shakes your senses into heightened consciousness; from a mountaintop’s sharp winds sprinting across the valley; or even among the deafening silence of a remote desert.
The symphony of sensations is nearly impossible to capture in words. Music, on the other hand, can do wonders for the imagination.
In 2018 Hunter Noack presents “In a Landscape: Classical Music in the Wild.” The outdoor performance series, now in its second year, forgoes traditional concert halls in favor of forests, fields and vistas. But audience members don’t simply sit and listen. Instead each guest wears wireless headphones, connected to transmissions of the live music, and are free roam the outdoor location.
The concerts take place across Oregon — from coastal forests to remote desert and everywhere in between. And the music never seems the same. After all, Oregon’s vast landscapes aren’t limited to one sight, sound or feeling.
