Best ice cream ever!!!!
We stayed nearby and our host told us to come here. The chowder and ice cream were the best ever. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Great little local flavor!
Such a sweet little spot. Friendly people, good food, delicious ice cream (including dairy free for the husband!), unique flavors. Loved our curry, too. Oh, and they don't act mad when you show up for food... (unlike some other Oregon coast establishments :)

Welcomed Surprise
Had the salad and chowder. Both were delicious. Shocking that this little town had had the best food we have had so far on this trip down the coast. Because it’s done out only, walked to the river to enjoy our lunch with other friendly diners at the riverside picnic tables which was also an added bonus.

Creative chowders and inventive ice cream from warm and caring people.
What a truly lovely find. My family and I shared three of their different chowders and a salad. The flavors were fantastic, the ingredients were expertly used and fresh, and we wanted more. So we also tried the ice creams. Creative flavors and very creamy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This jewel is now a must for our family when we come to the coast.

A North Coast 'Must-go, Go-To'
This is a friendly small excellent hole-in-the-wall on the main street of Nehalem, on Oregon's North Shore, along the Nehalem River. They specialize in home-made artisan chowders and ice creams. I usually stop in for the chowders but almost always also walk out with an appetizer of ice cream cone. I've never been disappointed. Each month their list of chowder varieties changes, with a few standards that stay on the menu. I most often go for the Thai green curry chowder, but each one I've tried has been delicious. NW seafood chowder is always there, as are Thai green or red curry chowders. I've had a fantastic Mexican-themed one and this month they have a Peruvian one that I'll try next week. Buttercup is a take-out place, with no seating. However, there is seating behind the building, overlooking the River. And if someone in your party isn't into chowder, there's a fish-n-chips truck, also behind the building, as well as a distillery with a tasing room and a donut spot. Parking can get a little tight along the main street, but there is usually parking a little to the north, right around the corner on the same side of the street. If that's full there is always parking in the lot kitty-corner from Buttercup, at the main intersection in town.
