A worthwhile detour
Mom and I took a day trip to the Christmas Market in Silverton but somehow missed that it was only an evening event. [Sad trombone]. I happened upon a brochure for the Alpaca Farm at the Chamber of Commerce and we took a worthwhile detour. We spent about 1.5 hours talking with a wonderful young person who showed us the alpacas and told us all about their farm, the animals, their breeding and shearing processes. It was fascinating and the socks, hats, scarves and sweaters are amazingly soft and beautiful. And the yarns were beautiful too. Great place for gifts! Highly recommend!

We now need an alpaca!
My sister always plans an amazing time for us while we are visiting on vacation; THIS plan was top notch and way more than my animal loving heart could imagine. Our visit was very hands on, along with up close and personal. Our little girl was ecstatic that she got to walk an alpaca, we had the opportunity to sit and feed alpacas, my husband got kisses from an alpaca and I, well, I got sneezed on, not only once, but twice by an alpaca.... I can now tell you that alpaca food is dry and bland ;-) The owners gave us their time, we never felt rushed of in their way. They were kind, knowledgeable, informative, and funny from the beginning to the end. The shop was adorable with memorabilia options that fit all ages and budget ranges. Now added to the list of animals that our daughter wants is an alpaca. Thank you for this opportunity, it is HiGhLy Highly recommended!

A must visit spot! Will be back again!
Love visiting this place! Way too many animals to count, but a fun place to visit and learn about alpacas. Big fan of the store and wall of socks!

PERFECT AFTERNOON OUTING - AND KID FRIENDLY!!
Alpacas at Marquam Hill is a perfect way to spend the afternoon! They have many alpacas of all ages, and lots of babies! The owners are incredible knowledgeable about all things alpaca: raising and breeding, personalities, heritage, Peruvian wild alpacas, ratings different qualities of wool. We enjoyed feeding a few of the alpacas, and saw first hand their different personalities. Very kid friendly outing - the alpacas are so gentle:) There is also a lovely shop selling beautiful scarves, gloves, jackets, blankets, stuffed animals made of alpaca wool, to name a few. Easy to find and plenty of parking.

Spending a fun hour on a sunny day in Oregon
We took advantage of sunny skies to pop in - no reservation for a tour, but we were still treated like honored guests - enjoyed feeding the alpacas, and chatting with Bill about their ranch. We ended up buying several amazing alpaca goods - hat, scarf, kids gifts - we were all very happy to spend an hour plus at Marquam HIll.
