Caroline Louise Miller’s “Deep Water” is a post-apocalyptic fantasy opera that investigates rage, grief, play and persistence in the face of gargantuan, destructive forces. Queer teenage companions Val and Bluejay chronicle the fall of humanity during the Anthropocene, serving as witnesses and documentarians and finding resilience through love and play. Deep Water positions two queer teenagers as creators of history, defining what is worth preserving.
Deep Water is made possible through generous funding from Portland State University, Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC), Portland Arts and Culture, and Portland Arts Access Fund.
