Milagro, IDEAL PDX, and Cargo are pleased to announce events and activities for the Milagro Central Eastside Muertos Celebration, running from October 4 – November 10, continuing the tradition as Portland’s most beloved commemoration
of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Día de Muertos is a vibrant Mexican tradition where families honor and remember deceased loved ones by creating beautiful altars adorned with photos, marigolds, and favorite foods. Far from a somber occasion, this joyful celebration embraces the continuity of life and ensures that the spirits of the departed are joyfully welcomed back to the world of the living.
In that spirit of joy and human connection, the Milagro Central Eastside Muertos Celebration provides opportunities for the public to observe and celebrate with fellow community members in many different ways—attending a theatrical
production, joining a workshop to learn Día de Muertos craft traditions, taking to the streets to tour bespoke altars created by local artists, and more.
