Get ready to rev your engines because Cruise the Gorge is back from August 9-11, 2024! This high-octane weekend kicks off with the electric “Neon Cruise” on Friday evening in downtown The Dalles. Like a blast from the past, it’s an “open” cruise – just roll in and start showcasing your wheels (no burnouts, though!). The excitement begins around 7 pm, painting the streets with a colorful array of vehicles that will keep cruising well into the night. Locals cherish this nostalgic event, and the sidewalks along 2nd and 3rd streets come alive with appreciative spectators. While cruising, be sure to check out special events hosted by downtown businesses. You can also pre-register for the Saturday show at Burgerville on 3rd St. between 4 and 7 pm.
On Saturday, shift gears to the “Show in the Shade” at the lush Sorosis Park, 300E Scenic Dr. Registration fires up at 10 am, judging runs until 2 pm, and the Parade of Champions awards ceremony kicks off at 3 pm. The first 250 vehicles get exclusive goodie bags and dash plaques for a $20 entry fee. With 40+ awards, food and specialty vendors, oldies music, and a plethora of raffle prizes, it’s a day in the park that car enthusiasts won’t want to miss.
As the sun sets on Saturday, gearheads can continue the fun at the Eagles/Elks Cruise Nite from 5 to 7 pm at the lodge, 2006 W 7th, The Dalles.
And if you’ve still got the horsepower for more, seize the opportunity to trophy at the Dufur Classic Car Show on Sunday in the Dufur Community Park, just 13 miles south of The Dalles, starting at 9 am.
Whether you’re revving up for one day, two days, or the full three-day extravaganza, “Cruise the Gorge” promises a weekend filled with classic cars, cool vibes, and a whole lot of fun!
