Deep Woods Distillery

Deep Woods Distillery is one of Oregon's newest and smallest craft distilleries, located in uptown Oakridge 4 blocks from the Brewer's Union local 180.  The tasting room opened in late October 2016 and is currently open Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 2-6 p.m.  Visitors can sample the products entirely made at the distillery and buy sealed bottles, as well as a range of merchandise, new and used drinking accessories, books and art.

The distillery currently offers Cascadian Moon, a corn sugar spirit finished on Umpqua Oak; Fir of the Doug, a grain neutral spirit infused with the spring tips of Douglas fir; and Madra Ban, a clear peated malt spirit.  A spiced Krupnikas is in the works and new offerings will come on-line over the coming year, including mixtures of berries and peppers in liquors.  Many small batch creations will only be available through the tasting room.  The distillery was started by husband/wife team Michael Garvin and Cindy Noblitt, who settled in the Oakridge/Westfir area in 2005.  They transitioned from forest protection activism to contract restoration forest work in the 2000s, creating snags for wildlife throughout the Oregon Cascades and Coast for the Forest Service and the BLM since 2001.  Now they hope to infuse the spirit of the forest in the spirits they are creating at Deep Woods Distillery and contribute to the revitalization of this former logging town transitioning to a mecca for mountain bikers and other forest recreationists.
