A classic
At the recommendation of our hotel manager we decided to try this place for breakfast. It’s been operating here for over 100 years. The railroaders, due to their close proximity, frequent this place. Bar in the back, restaurant out front. You can eat, drink or gamble (see pix). Food was good, server was was good. Tacky decor which is part of the charm.

Return to normal..great homestyle cookin'
My hubby and I have returned to the LongBranch many times on the weekend and greeted by the cook ( Matt I think is his name) and the waitress (with the long braid whose name I forgot) ) every time. Both are great "advertisers" of how The Long Branch used to be long ago when walking in the door. They both on weekends either know our soda drinks without asking or what we might be ordering ..feels good knowing we are remembered. Even funnier to hear from my twin sister who was asked by the same waitress if she was having a burger ( my go-to order every time pretty much)..oops wrong twin sister that morning who showed up 😃). Great weekend breakfast spot..

Great Breakfast place on Sunday
We were looking for a place to eat on a Sunday morning in downtown La Grande and found other places were lined up, so walked around the corner and found the Long Branch. We Set at the counter where you can watch the chef because the the tables were full. Good choice, the breakfast was very good, hot and very reasonably priced. Apparently the bar area in back, offers great Bloody Mary's sice everyone there was having on.

Ole time greasy spoon breakfast!
If you are looking for that greasy spoon, comfort food, type of breakfast, this is the place! Sit at the counter on the lil stools and watch the short order cook go at it; or, sit at the tables; or, go in the back and sit at the dark, full-service bar with a bloody Mary?... It's a cultural experience in some ways. But, if you are not seeking a healthy meal--just a good hearty and FILLING meal, then check it out. PS: Have only been for breakfast--which they serve all hours! Best biscuits and gravy in town. We split our omlets there too.

Decades of good food and memories.
We have come to the Long Branch for decades, having been introduced to it by my father who had also patronized for decades.. Hamburgers are my favorite here - nothing fancy about them, but good grilled flavor, especially when asking for grilled onions to top them. The staff is ok in the weekday mornings,( even grouchy Carolina!) but the weekend cook caused us to stop coming in the last few months - he is very loud, very sloppy ( often times have seen sweat dripping from his head, and wiped with his forearm).. Not complaining on food, but its very displeasing when having to watch the one cooking it.. Wont go back until the owner changes his cook help on the weekend day shift.
