Great food, fun place
My family of 4 ate here the first weekend in January. It’s attached to a surf shop. They take your order when you walk in and then take you to a table. I had the crab cake salad which was delicious. The crab cakes were small though. My husband had the blackened halibut tacos. Those were incredible!! All of the food was good.

Great food
Ordered take out after checking into a nearby hotel after a long travel day. Great, satisfying food and great service. Appears to be in a great area of town too (I'm not overly familiar with Coos Bay).

Loved the local vibe...and the food wasn't bad either
I've read all the previous reviews, so was prepared for standing in line to order and the very informal style of dinnerware, etc. Actually, it wasn't that much different than any other place where you put in your order and wait for it to be delivered or have your number called. By controlling the pace of the ordering I think they get better control over the time it takes for food to be prepared and delivered to the tables than a situation where orders back up horrendously in the kitchen and wait times seem longer. One odd aspect of the restaurant is that it is straddled by northbound and southbound lanes of 101 and has signs on both sides. We were walking to the restaurant along the southbound side and found ourselves at the right address, but at a surfing shop. There was a map posted showing the entrance on the other side of the building, but -- as we started that way -- a guy came out of t he surf shop and took us through the shop to the rear of the restaurant. We also saw him helping serve the dinners, so it's an interesting cooperative operation. It was an obviously mostly local crowd. You could tell by the sweatshirts and t's bearing the local high school's logo and knickname. And by the cute high school girls volleyball team that showed up in uniform briefly. There was the sort of friendly chatter among people who probably knew each other that you don't get in a primarily tourist eatery. My son and I both ordered tacos. I had the Mex Tacos and he ordered the night's special blackened halibut tacos. We both had cups if the roasted tomato sopa, which was surprisingly, more of a rich broth than what I was expecting...something different than I've ever had before. I liked it but think I might have liked it more if it had something with texture in it. I guess I could have broken up the accompanying tortilla chips and dropped them in. My taco also came with a really good side dish of beans. I think if I lived in Coos Bay (or went through it more often) I'd become more familiar with the menu here and would get comfortable with the process. I know I'd enjoy the food and the friendliness of the sincerely overworked (and probably underpaid) staff.

ok
They have made it hard and long to order and food was a little over cookeid . Usually it is excellent. I guess everyone has an off day.

Generous portions, a nice place for a seafood meal
We were ready for some yummy seafood dishes after we checked into our Coos Bay inn and this place did not disappoint! The concept is a little unusual in that you stand in line to order and then they will seat you in the adjoining room. We were hungry so we ordered both a Crab Cake burger and a large Local Pink Shrimp Salad to share. For utensils, they hand out a plastic fork with a paper napkin and the food is served in a paper lined metal basket. Not much dishwashing needed here! We had to ask for a knife to cut our burger so that we could share it. The portions here are huge! The crab cake burger was delicious and served with caramelized onions, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. It also came with really tasty french fries- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with skins. So good. It also came with coleslaw but I wasn't a fan of it. The pink shrimp salad was fresh and delicious with lots of shrimp, avocado, greens, red onion, tomato, and blue cheese. Service was good - it had a family-run restaurant vibe. We were happy we came here.
