Best Happy Hour in Town
If you want to get a great sample of Rudy's service and menu try their happy hour some night. Great way to sample the menu and for sure you wont go hungry. Portions are very good and they have a wide variety of food and deserts. Fun way to try some new wine or Whiskey's also. Once you have tried happy hour you will be ready for when you want a great fancier dinner out with your sweetie or friends as the main restaurant is so good if you want to have a nice upper scale meal with some great wine selections. Prices are good but a little higher in the main restaurant but that is totally to be expected. I think it is worth having a great night out. Salem doesn't have many fancier eateries so this is a gem I really enjoy. Fun staff and management too.
Not A Big City Steakhouse
Food is decent but the night we went service was just plain sloppy. Repeatedly asked for bottled water and tap water refills, no bread until our salads arrived, and just generally slow service. Not a place I would recommend to anyone familiar with a Big City steakhouse experience. Locals have been fooled into complacency.
Prices are too high for us. We won't be back. Food was OK but nothing spectacular. Service was average although we had to ask the waitress for service.
Elegant, classy, wonderful food.
Really lovely restaurant downtown Salem. Pretty outdoor seating with vine covered fence and fireplaces. Food was delicious starting with the warm, fresh baked rolls, appetizers (seafood dip and some type crostini with a spicy spread) salads (fresh, large) and entrees. My butterflies shrimp had a lovely slightly spicy sauce, garlic mashers and asparagus. Rudy’s treated us to free dessert for the birthday girls-a generous portion of Marion berry cobbler with ice cream. Lots of space in this restaurant so you don’t feel crowded. The waitress was attentive and patient. A lovely experience.
My husband and I chose Rudy's for a late lunch/early dinner in celebration of our anniversary. We were not disappointed. The place was quiet and the service fast and kind and attentive. Our waitress noticed that I was sitting in a very sunny spot on the hottest day of the year and quickly offered to activate the overhead sunscreen which helped immensely. We enjoyed Rudy's atmosphere and could see where it would be magical in the evenings. My husband chose Hand cut Santa Fe Steak Bites and a side of fries for his meal and I chose the Salmon filet in lobster sauce with rice and chargrilled asparagus spears for mine. Both entrees were outstanding and perfectly right-sized on the luncheon menu. We know we will be going back and hopefully next summer we can take in one of the Thursday evening's of dining in the alley along with live music. We highly recommend this place!
