Lee Oak Tree – Heritage Tree

This Oregon white oak was planted in 1869 by the pioneer Lee family. Philander Lee was a supporter of the O&C Railroad line which ran through his land and connected Portland to San Francisco. Lee filed the Canby plat in 1870, naming the community for Major General Edward Richard Sprigg Canby, a Civil War hero. Each year Canby School District teachers bring students to this oak as part of their education on the history of Canby and Oregon.
