Sandwiches were so good
We arrived in Independence at lunch time and not knowing the local restaurants, we just started walking along the main street. Happened upon Ovenbird Bakery and the smell drew us in. We each ordered a sandwich - mine on sourdough, her's on wheat. Sandwiches are ample with all the fixins, but the bread is the star. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the baguette we purchased for later that day. It had probably been sitting for several hours and when we cut it that evening, it was very dry and hard.

Yummy sandwiches!
We stopped in here looking for a place to get a quick lunch and we just made it before closing. We had some very tasty sandwiches, made as we waited. If our hotel around the corner didn't have breakfast included, we definitely would have been here very morning picking up some pastries and coffee.

Delightful find
We were in town on an errand and needed some lunch. We dropped in to check out their offerings. I enjoyed a bowl of soup and coffee cake, both were gluten and dairy free! What a nice surprise for me. My husband had a wonderful sandwich on a baguette. Good food and service. Sure hope we have more excuses to visit Independence and this great bakery.

Hooked on Ovenbird
We just moved to Independence Landing . The first place I noticed while checking out the shops on Main street was the Ovenbird Bakery. I avoided the place as long as I could. Why? Because I love freshly made bread and pastries way too much. Well, I gave in, and made a stop at Ovenbird. Well, I am hooked and will return. ...again and again,.

Perfect for a Picnic
We stopped by for lunch takeaway and it was awesome! Build your own sandwich, fresh baked bread options, soup, salad and quiche. Prices were really modest. There's a park (a block over) with picnic tables, which made social distancing easy. We would definitely stop here again.
