Good location and near Rogue!
Newport was an ideal location for us to stop and we have previously been some of the hotels on the beach but have always ended up at Rogue due to the great beer selection. This time we decided to stay at the B&B which was ideal, the B&B is huge, there are 4 apartments, the one we had also had a small terrace. The apartment was well equipped for a longer stay than our couple of nights.
Fun place to stay.
These apartments are very spacious and have everything you need. I was a little curious if it would be noisy being above a bar but it is well insulated. This will be my place to stay any time I’m in Newport.
Great location and affordable
We only were able to stay one night but it was perfect. Once parked, easily, we were able to walk to dinner and breakfast. It was cool watching the morning fish deliveries come in. Must eat at Local Ocean Seafood. Best crab cakes ever!
Nicke and clean apartment
Situated directly on the bay front you are I the middle of it, with a nice pub and restaurant just below and loads of sightseeing around. No breakfast but two bottles of beer in the fridge. The apartments are fully equipped (stove, microwave, coffee maker, washing machine) and a small supermarket is just across the parking lot.
Laid back and good for dogs!
We wanted an inexpensive coastal trip with our 15 year-old and 2 dogs where we didn't have to worry about the dogs tracking in sand and had plenty of room for all of us. That's exactly what we got. As others have mentioned, this is not at all fancy. But, for us it was just right. We stayed in unit C which is basically a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment. Perfectly sized for 3 humans and 2 dogs who don't want to be up in each others business the whole time. Comfy beds, comfy couch and a balcony overlooking the bustling main strip. The kitchen was well equipped and it was awesome to have a dishwasher and washer/dryer. Towels for doggies and lots of extra pillows, blankets. TV has regular cable, but no DVD or anything. Pros: Comfortable beds, lots of room, right in the middle of everything, lots of great restaurants and kitschy tourist things within walking distance, awesome beer, laid back vibe, very nice people, relaxing. Cons: Wi-fi was terribly spotty and slow at best. Be prepared to use your hotspot. Parking in summer even during the week is tough. HOT...it was only high 60's/low 70's, but none of the windows open in the living area. There is a fan, but next time we'll bring our own fan to plant in front of the slider to the balcony. That would make it perfect! It can be noisy at night and early in the am if you have windows open which we really had to do because of the heat. If you are sensitive to fishy smells, you should definitely look to stay in a different area of Newport. This is the industrial fishing area and the smell can be really strong. Didn't bother us. NOTE: If you have dogs you should know: there are really no grassy areas nearby or really any areas that aren't paved. We walked up the hill toward the bridge where there are a few planted areas in front of the Coast Guard buildings. Worked well for us, but late night trips were a bit of a hassle. Also, if you go further up that hill you can walk down a gravel road to the water under the bridge. This was a secluded spot to bring the dogs for some swimming and off-leash playtime. We only saw one other dog during 3 different trips down there. Beware of sink holes during low tide. And, you do need sturdy shoes to get down the rocks. I did it in flip flops every time and managed, but next time I'll wear tennis shoes with some traction. Our dogs had no issues at all and loved the water and freedom! Next time: We'll bring a box fan for the living area, apple tv or something to stream Netflix, better shoes for walking because you DO NOT want to move your car once you secure a coveted spot in the 24-hour parking lot and probably some board games. We would stay here again.
