    Cozy cabins

Cozy, clean, quiet cabins in beautiful Crooked River. We stayed in two different cabins here while traveling. Both were well maintained with comfy queen bed, bath, mini fridge/freezer and microwave. One cabin also had two futon chairs. The cabins have a spacious deck and picnic table. Great place to sit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife. We would definitely stay here again.

    Money hungry Meghan

My family and I were in a severe car accident on our way to Crooked cabins. For whatever reason in the ambulance I decided to be courteous and called Meghan (the manager there) to inform her that we had been in accident and couldn’t stay for the night any longer and I requested a cancellation and refund. Her response was “we don’t do refunds for anything past four days out from your reservation”. I explained to her “I am literally in two ambulances with my family with blood gushing from my face from the glass that shattered into me but I decided to call you to cancel and you can’t give me a refund”. She remained silent on the phone and then agreed to give us a refund. Two days later I called to ask about the refund and she said “I can’t give you a refund because why should I have to pay for your accident”. She even said “I have to pay for my staff and make profit and clean the room for you” I told her we were on our way to your cabins but got into an accident and you literally can’t see how wrong it is to care about your profits over the fact that I didn’t even stay at your hotel and was in severe car accident on vacation when I live in Florida. She continued to disagree and fight with me on the refund so I explained to her once again how inhospitable she was. She then began to laugh on the other line when I said forget it and I will just dispute the charge. She later called and left a voicemail offering 50% refund if I don’t go through with the dispute. I agreed to it and it’s been four months and she is still arguing with me over the refund. In fact she is just dragging it out until I forget about it. She stole $170 from a severely family injured family. I hope that money goes to good use and she can live with a clean conscious. What an unjust and immoral person. IF YOU WANT TO STAY SOMEWHERE WHOS MANAGER IS MONEY HUNGRY STAY HERE.

    Gorgeous Views!

We loved our weekend in this upstairs apartment with gorgeous views off our deck. Our room was clean, comfortable and a fluffy bed. We saw quail, rabbits, marmots, chipmunks and lots of birds with our morning coffee overlooking the golf course. Clever kitchen too. We are looking forward to staying here again.

    Memorial Day Get Away

All the arrangements were done by phone, I only met the owner Sean when he was outside working on the landscaping. You don't check in or check out with the owners. The small cabins are really for 2 people. There is a bed (queen), shower, toilet and the sink is in the bedroom; the frontroom is a couch with built in cabinets where they have mounted the TV and modem for the WIFI. There is a dorm size refrigerator and a microwave. That's it; this is not a hotel room, so plan ahead. I think the small cabin would not accommodate a family of 4 comfortably, so consider the chalet or the lodge if you are more than 2 people. We were 2 couples traveling so we took 2 small cabins side by side. We were traveling with our Westfalia camper van so we unpacked our camping kitchen and set up on the deck which worked out great. This stay turned more into "glamping". The cabins were clean and the linens and sheets were acceptable. The grounds were well kept and the views were WONDERFUL. On the ranch, this was the best place to be; you are between the golf course and the gas station/grocery store. There is a large grassy area for walking your dogs, playing frisbee or putting out a towel for soaking up the sun. Aside from the view east towards Smith Rocks, it was quite and serene. Perfect for putting up your feet and reading a book or resting. You can go down Chinook Rd north to the end and there is a trail head to the Otter Bench Trail which we took, about 4 miles RT up the canyon with some breath taking views of the Crooked River and the geology of the canyon. The hike is a gradual slope up and could be done by people in fair shape. Golfing is also available, and it was a good course and I would recommend going early in the morning as there is little shade later in the day. Besides, on the 5th hole you might spy a golden eagle floating over the canyon, or you can watch the rockchucks (it's like a woodchuck) scurrying around the golf course. DOWNSIDES: These are minor, but notable: The garbage area is not well marked and only up by the chalet next to their backdoor and it's hard to determine if there is recycling or not as the cans are not marked; it's a tight squeeze to pull in and out of the parking spots for the small cabins so be patient with making your turns; the WIFI went down the first day we were there and it never came up, even after notifying the owners -- however you have great bars for the cell service so if you need your phone you can use it. There were no passes for the pool which is at the club house (you need to drive it's too far to walk), but we were told to tell the club house to call the owners and they would straighten that out. I would stay here again and I do recommend it as a base of operations to explore the ranch and surrounding sights.

Cozy, rustic cabin in the midst of nature

Just spent the weekend in one of their small cabins. I'm told the cabins aren't identical, and some have futons; this one didn't, just the one double bed, making it inappropriate for 2 people who aren't used to sleeping in the same bed. Looking at other reviews, I'm shocked at people who complain about the TV. If you need a big-screen TV, there's a Super 8 by the airport, or any number of other cheaper places in town. The difference is that at the Super 8, you open the door, you get to see the parking lot. Here? You're between two gorgeous canyons. There, you get to listen to the highway. Here? Bullfrogs and crickets. I'd take these friendly, family-run cabins any day over the same cheap corporate hotel room you can find anywhere. I didn't use the oddly-placed TV. I found the cabin perfectly clean. The reviewer who complained may have been the victim of an earlier tenant who did a poor job cleaning their dishes and put them back in the cupboard dirty. Everything I had was spotless. I think Onya (the place is run by Sean and Onya) would be mortified to think someone got dirty dishes! I'd definitely stay here again if I was traveling alone. With someone else, I'd be more inclined to go for the chalet. It looked like a better value than getting two of the smaller cabins.
