An Iconic Resort in Oregon
This was our first visit to the famed Salishan resort. We have family members that visit yearly and love it. We received a good price online for the room stay. Check in was quick and concise. The main lodge was warm and friendly. The exterior of the resort is in need of maintenance. Given you are at a PNW beach in the winter, but it was more than that. We had a lower level room in the Five Greens House. Big mistake. Do not get a lower level room, for the walking above factor! It was the noisiest room we have stayed in for years! You could hear the walking above, the tv next-door, drawers opening, voices and no one was intentionally being loud, just being guests at a hotel. The room was clean, but the floor was cleaned with the wrong cleaner and made 'sticky' noises when you walked and was loud. The toilet was new, clean and loud to flush. The toilet would wake you up if someone used it in the night. Other than those things, the room was nicely appointed. The $25 resort fee seemed steep for really, seemingly nothing. I would give the resort one more chance, since it is so well known and has mixed reviews.....crossing fingers!......
Oregon coast HQ
What lovely place to anchor an Oregon coast visit. Have overlooked this place in previous visits to coast but was attending a conference. Good vibe from the beginning - great welcome and service at the front desk. Room was really cozy with fireplace, king bed, and great view of coast. The cool misty weather made the property even more beautiful -- easy to move around the property under the cover of the porches and covered walkways. Will definitely return.
Sam was the best bartender ever
Sam made my husband and me the most exquisite, seasonally tailored, hot toddies we have had in quite some time. She did so with finesse. We asked many questions about the sourcing of the ingredients and she was very knowledgeable and kind. We highly recommend going to see Sam at the attic bar at Salishan. As we always say, Sali-shall we? Yes, we shall-ishan.
Beautiful location! World class spa!
sweeping coastal views, towering forests, temperate climate, cliffs that plummet into the Pacific- the Salishan has it all!! The resort is Pacific Northwest elegance at it’s finest! Nestled in and among the moss covered evergreens, the view from every room is unparalleled! We enjoyed watching the weather roll in from the rocking chairs on our porch every morning, and then snuggling by the fire place in our room. Tanner and Max at the front desk did everything to accommodate us- including providing complimentary kombucha and drinks upon check in. Max kept the outdoor fire pits running for us on our first night, when our jet lag kept us from hitting the hay on time. The food was superb! Nickie, the food and beverage manager, ensured we found all the right meals and the cooslest cocktails! She directed us to The Attic, where we had the greatest roasted brussel sprout and hazelnut dish, followed by unique and innovative craft cocktails from Matt the bartender. The resort allows you to access a private coastline via nature trail- the views were amazing and the seals were plentiful and entertaining! My favorite feature of the Salishan was the epic spa! Gorgeous slate and stone decor, private pools and hot tubs that look out over the bay, and world class massages! We munched on their specialty pepitas and relaxed in the ocean breezes prior to our treatments- it was a treat for the body and the soul! Do not miss it when you visit! Can’t wait to go back during whale watching season- the resort is positioned for prime whale viewing! Will return ASAP! Such a special experience!
Went for Christmas Break but left after first night
We don't golf or play tennis but we went to Salishan for a three night break at Christmas. The place was largley deserted. The interior of the room was fine but it seemed like we were in a dead or dying resort. There is a lot of deferred maintenance on the outside. We went to the bar but left because it was empty and seemed so boring. The golf pro restaurant was no good either. We shook our heads and called to ask what we'd have to pay to leave early. The staff very kindly waived the normal fee as it was Christmas Eve. So we happily left and went home. We thought we made a mistake and we'd rather be at home. I would recommend a more beach front property in the area or the casino hotel in town. Because we would not go back we cannot recommend the lodge to anyone not attending a convention, playing golf or at a tennis conference. It was dated and away from the beach and most attractions.
