Cozy, Warm and Comfortable
Walking into our room at this motel was a lovely surprise! The first thing we noticed was the cozy warmth of the room as contrasted with the cold temperatures outside. Next was how CLEAN and lovely it was! It was furnished with warm wood, and soft bedding. The bathroom was small, but we weren't there to bask in a hot bath, so it had what we needed. The bed was very comfortable, and surprisingly so were the pillows. At first I thought they were going to be too firm, but we slept quite well!
There are patios with the king rooms, that are fenced in, have gas fire pits and lawn chairs. The gas was turned off for the winter, which was disappointing but expected since the website said that's the way it would be. The view from the patio was nice, and I'm sure it's a great place to hang out on a spring or summer evening.
I gave the room 4 stars instead of 5 for just a few piddly reasons, but those aren't important enough to keep anyone from staying here. First, there wasn't a clock. Yes, we have clocks on our phones, but trying to see the time in the middle of the night tends to render me completely blind for a moment due to the bright light of the phone screen. I was told that the rooms do have clocks, but ours was broken and they were purchasing a new one. Good to know! 2nd, there were two light bulbs burned out - one over the vanity and one in the bathroom. There were other bulbs, so there was light, and since I know that bulbs can be fine one day and burned out the next, again, not a big deal. The thing that bothered me the most was the lack of telephone. As I said earlier, most people have cell phones, but my first thought was that in an emergency situation, someone who is elderly may struggle to fumble around with their cell phone while under stress. A landline would be an easier way to reach help if it were needed. I asked about this, and was told that during covid they took out all the phones and do not have plans on putting them back in - personally I feel that's a mistake and carries potential hazard for some people. I guess that's something they'll have to hash out with their insurance company should such an emergency come to pass.
There one one more unusual thing - our room had a little fridge, which is typical, but there wasn't a microwave. There was one on site, down the walkway and in the room with the ice and soda machines. A little inconvenient for people already in their PJ's who may want to heat up a snack. It would be nice if each room had a small microwave, but I suppose if heating something up is that important to someone, they can get dressed again and wander down to the ice and soda room.
We are going back on a family trip in May, and we have already booked our rooms, so all in all, this motel is one I would recommend to family and friends who are visiting Joseph for a couple of nights.
