A GRAND hotel!
This was the most exceptional hotel either of us had ever stayed at. We are actually disappointed now because we know that no hotel would compare. We felt comfortable and welcome from the second we stepped in the door. Although the setting was grand and spectacular, really, there was a comfortable atmosphere. Completely unpretentious. We felt like we were at home. The staff were so lovely. Really really lovely. It was as if this was not a job to them, but a joy. Everyone! From the front desk to the hotel shop, to the service in our room (outstanding tidying every day). The "Mothers" restaurant in the hotel was so wonderful, we ate there ALL 4 evenings we were there! I know that sounds silly as Portland has so much to offer, but we were hooked! It just felt so comfortable. We honestly have never experienced such a fantastic stay. The rooms were very high quality and huge. Extremely clean. We could not believe our luck. Because we are on business, we were not able to see much of Portland, but we are already planning a family trip - just so we can come back here! lol. Thank-you to all who made our stay such a pleasure.
Beware: Building Falling Apart
This hotel is in a great location for downtown, Chinatown, convention center. But- this hotel needs a major facelift. Our bathtub/shower was broken, backed up, and ran out of hot water. The bedsheets and bed comforter were dirty. The windows were filthy. The suite was extremely dusty. Paint was chipping and dingy.
Excellent location with harbor views, great staff
We stayed two nights, in a room on high floor with direct view of harbor. We found the service to be excellent—staff seemed ready to go above and beyond, from valet to front desk to our waitress during our great (free for Hilton Gold) made-to-order breakfasts. In the evenings they had these delicious cookies in the lobby — not your usual quick bakes — these were delicious! My spouse is disabled so cannot walk very far, and the staff offered to provide their quick shuttle service to restaurants a few blocks away, that most guests could easily walk to. They were very gracious about this, fitting us in when the shuttle was available. Location is great and property feels upscale. The rooms, however, could use an upgrade and sprucing up. All in all, well worth the price.
Second time guest
This is our second time staying in this hotel and we’ll return again. Our daughter attends college in Portland and likes to get away from the dorms when we visit her. We get the large suits offered at the hotel so she can have her own room. The suits are large, comfortable, clean, well appointed and a fantastic value. We especially like the charm of this historic, 100 year hotel. The staff is friendly, helpful and on point as you’d expect at a Hilton. Can’t beat complementary breakfast and happy hour
Good location to be able to walk to all the downtown highlights. Great hot breakfast and nice happy hour. The rooms were very spacious and clean and our group of 6 ladies were happy with the amenities.
