Nice hotel, but overpriced
This hotel is clean and includes happy hour snacks and drinks as well as a great breakfast! Unfortunately, the room lacks a lot of the amenities that lesser hotels offer such as an iron, ironing board, closet, close hangers, etc. When taking all this into consideration, the hotel is not worth the expensive cost.
Did not meet expectations for service, cleanliness, or comfort
I had both good and bad experiences staying at this hotel. Pros: 1. Location - convenient and parking is free, although very narrow spots so watch your doors. 2. Attempt at service - with multiple issues I expressed, reception was kind enough to take 1/2 off 1st night and did try to make things right. 3. Evening reception/breakfast - both had wide selection and well-staffed, although be prepared for large lines/crowds of people. Cons: 1. Cleanliness of rooms - found hair in tub, leftover popcorn bags and crumbs, old coffee filters left out; not what you expect from an Embassy Suites, and did not get better after a 2nd cleaning (still found trash left behind from prior guests). 2. Air conditioning - they attempted to make it work, but it did not get any more comfortable. Granted -- I like the temp at 68F(20C), but it stayed at around 75F(24C) even at the lowest temp setting. If you like colder rooms, this is a poor choice. 3. Varying service levels with front-desk staff - receptionist at check-out was extremely rude. I saw an erroneous charge on my receipt, and they questioned me since it did not appear on their screen. I showed the .pdf copy from my phone showing the charge. They said it was rectified, and did not say another word. I did appreciate the attempt to make things right (2 stars instead of 1), but the quality did not improve. I expected more, especially for the hotel brand and price.
Very quiet location. Easy access to Freeways, shopping and restaurants. Beds were very comfortable. Nice having a separate bedroom for the sofa room. Staff was very friendly. Elevators were all working and very quick.
One of the older Embassy Suites I've stayed at, or at least it seemed that way. The breakfast was very good as was the "happy hour" which makes the premium price paid over other high end hotels worth the cost; although we only got back to the hotel once in time to get a free drink and only made it up early enough to eat breakfast once. That was our fault for staying out too late. Since we spent little time at the hotel, we could have done well with something less expensive.
Overall satisfied, but a few minor issues
Overall, a good clean room. The bathroom needed some attention, specifically the shower. There was some mildew present and the curtain bar was damaged and looked like it would fall out of the brackets. Also, there is a fire sprinkler head right in the center of the relatively low bathroom ceiling. Obviously there is a need for fire sprinklers, but it should probably have a cage placed around it, as anyone drying off (swinging a towel around) could easily bump it and set it off. Finally, the coffee pot did not work which was a huge disappointment. It's a little thing, but us coffee drinkers really need that first cup in the morning. We needed to leave very early (4:30 am) to catch our flight, and I was counting on that in-room coffee to get me going. I'm still a fan of your properties and your service, this stay was a little less satisfying than your usual level of excellent service however.
