Needs updating!
It is very run down. Acoustic ceiling tiles show water stains and some are falling down. Bathroom has 1970’s linoleum, and one room had 1970’s shag carpet. Photos on-line do not show how the fabric on the settee was shredded with stuffing coming out. WiFi was too slow to use so had to use my cellular data. Linens are nothing special and don’t even match. No liquor allowed??? Caffeine discouraged (packets of hot chocolate and decaf coffee offered.) Specialty of the house - smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted bagel was served just like that - no purple onions, no capers. Second breakfast was plain scrambled eggs, sausage, and frozen French toast fingers. We did not even stay the third night. Nasty.

Tired Grand Dame
The Grandview was once an absolutely beautiful Victorian overlooking the water. Unfortunately the grand dame is now showing her age. The owners appear to have not done any maintenance for years. Exterior and interior paint is peeling, cobwebs are on hail way light fixtures and furniture in our room was threadbare. The garden beds are over run with weeds and the entranceway is piled with pet food, vacuum etc etc. Either the owner needs to lovingly restore her or allow the dame to peacefully retire.

Charming Authenticity
Lovely stay in a canopy bed in "The secret garden" room. This was the Victorian home of Louise and Richard Caruthers, memorialized in "Letters to Louise," written by the couple's grand daughter Carol Caruthers Lambert. The current owners have lovingly preserved most of the 19th century historic details of this old mansion, complete with a 'bullet' turret, where you can indulge in a peaceful breakfast the next morning. Breakfast was smoked salmon, bagels, and muffins. Enjoyable, bohemian ambiance. Pleasant rooms, light and sunny.

My favorite place in the world so far
We loved our stay and Grandview Bed and Breakfast, the home is so comfortable, quaint, romantic. Loretta treated us like royalty and the view from the balcony of our rooms was breathtaking. We were rugt over the Columbia river. I want to go back, it is my happy place.

Clean comfortable place in a convenient location
Was able to get a nice room on short notice at a good price. Excellent amenities. Friendly host. Would return next time I visit Astoria. Deer browse outside the window. Good view of the river. Quiet neighborhood.
