Trout Creek Day Use Area

Trout Creek Day Use site is located in the Trout Creek Campground, a fun, family campground situated along the South Santiam River, 20 miles east of the town of Sweet Home, Oregon. Many sites are right on the river, tucked under the cool shade of Douglas-fir and Hemlock trees. The Menagerie Wilderness is accessible from the Trout Creek Trailhead located directly across Highway 20.Due west is the historic Long Ranch that is now an Elk Refuge.Nearby is the Old Santiam Wagon Road. The Talking Water Gardens project, an engineered treatment wetlands, is open to the public seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Talking Water Gardens is a public works project that cools treated wastewater before entering the Willamette River.  Wetland cells are connected by soft-surface walking trails. Silver Creek Landing

This Watchable Wildlife site is located at the Silver Creek public boat ramp. A short walk leads to a wooden viewing platform, which overlooks the McKenzie River. Here, osprey, waterfoul, beaver, and deer can be sighted near the river's shore. The boat launch is paved, which provides easy access for vehicles from Highway 126.
