Timberline to Town Trail

15Mi, Challenging
If we were going to put a subhead on this trail description, it would read “A Descent through Oregon History.” But that sounds a little dry, like some school field trip – so let’s just put it this way: Ride this trail, and you’re going to enjoy the rush of descending 4,400 feet from the treeline on the state’s signature peak to the deep forests on its green flanks. And if you’re interested – and really, it’s pretty fascinating stuff – you can find out... More

Surveyor’s Ridge Epic

34Mi, Extreme
There are certain trail names that have the patina of legend to them; you hear them thrown around in conversation when adventurous riders gather. They define the riding in certain parts of Oregon. As a dirt lover, I’ve been hankering to check out the Sandy Ridge Trail, which holds a special place as the mountain biking single-track closest to Portland. Located just east of the town of Sandy on the southwest flank of Mt. Hood, the system’s loops make up about 12 miles of riding. One recent spring… More

9Mi, Challenging

It rolls how it rolls, and it flows how it flows, and sometimes it all comes together to be epic. But Sandy Ridge is at the other end of the spectrum – where you take a great piece of land and plan, design, build and maintain a custom bike playground – an off-road... More
