Osgood Ditch Trail

The trail is on the berm of an old mining ditch used for carrying water to mines in Waldo. Built in the early 1850s it is one of the oldest ditches in this area. This 5.6 mile multiple use non-motorized trail is located approximately 5 miles south of Jacksonville, Oregon. It offers stunning vistas for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. The trail predominantly follows the ridge tops above the Poorman and Bishop Creek drainages, and offers a year round opportunity for recreation. East Fork Illinois River Trail

Heavily wooded trail with beautiful scenery. Trail enters the Siskiyou Wilderness at the fourth river crossing. The river offers some fair fishing opportunities and some beautiful swimming holes for the very hardy. Douglas Trailhead

Cold Springs National Wildlife Refuge

3,117 acres of marsh, open-water, mudflats, and riparian/shrub habitat. Riparian woodland habitat along south and east sides of the reservoir are good for passerines in spring and summer. The walking trail in the southeastern part of the refuge is good for songbirds and some water birds, especially in spring and early summer. Dutch Flat Trailhead is a small rustic site which accesses the Dutch Flat Creek basin and the North Fork John Day Wilderness. Trail #1607 begins at the trailhead. Timberline Trail

This trail can be accessed from many different points. The trail climbs in and out of glacial fed drainages throughout its length. Most hikers find the fast moving river fords to be the most challenging part of the trail. Bitterlick Trail

 The Bitterlick Trail is a fun hike for a hot summer day. Primitive and not maintained, the hiker must wade across the creek at least 7 times during the length of the trail. Flatiron Rock Trail

The Flatiron Trail is a two-track trail that skirts the flank of the relatively nondescript Badlands shield volcano and gently descends to an unusual rock outcrop known as the Flatiron. Here, one can walk in an oblong-shaped moat, or crack for a lunar-like hiking experience.
