Beautiful stay at a 5 star resort as far as I’m concerned!
We were totally impressed by this resort . The spa gave excellent service, and was so nicely appointed. The room that we had with two queen beds, with spacious nicely, decorated and very clean. The beds were so comfortable as where the pillows. It was nice to have a patio to go out on which was very private. The coffee maker, and the coffee was delicious. The breakfast that was served was very good and had a good variety of freshly cooked foods. We ate dinner there one night and it was also excellent. The grounds were beautiful for walking and just enjoying the view. The Oregon Garden was right next door and we were there on a day that it was free entrance and we walked all around there and it was lovely all in all I cannot find one thing to complain about.

Expected more
Let me start off by saying we were in a dog friendly room and there was carpet on the floor. No no no. That was weird. 😳 * The back patio area was not fenced in. It was basically open to the neighboring room. * The dog exercise/relief area was torn up (under construction, maybe?) and very little grass area for the dogs to do their business. The rooms were ok, but lacking in a few areas. * The lighting in the room was insufficient even though there were about four lights in the room. With all of them light on, the room was still quite dark. * The bed, well, how do I put this… It had like a bow in the middle of it like there was a post in the center of the bed supporting the middle of the bed, but it was too tall, so it pushed the center of the bed up. It’s the best I can describe it. * The TV channel lineup was not as described in the list provided. A lot of this channels were not available even though they said they were according to the list provided. Who knows maybe I just read it wrong could be me.🤓 Very possible! * There was no movie rental options, which is always nice when you’re done with a long eventful day of hiking and exploring, and you just want to sit back and watch a movie. You had to watch whatever was available on the regular channels, like normal TV. ☺️ Nobody watches normal TV anymore. 😂 * The air conditioner was super loud. But at least they had one! 😆 **But, there is a built-in nightlight in the bathroom! That was pretty cool. 😎 * The restaurant was nice. The food was good. * The wait staff and room service was amazing. * The fireplace was the heater, so you couldn’t use it for ambience. We were there in April so we weren’t in need of a heater (or air conditioner really, but the room was quite stuffy so we did use the air conditioning.) But according to the instructions for the fireplace, it was the room heater. It would turn on and off to keep the consistent in the room based on what temperature you set it at. It was very weird. Not what I was expecting for a nice fireplace in your room. So, overallI don’t think I would return. But I’m glad I got to go and experience it.

Well, not what I expected.
I REALLY wanted to love this place. I have heard so many amazing things about it... "Best place to stay in Oregon". "Rooms are incredible". "The food is amazing". Ok, so we really did enjoy our stay for the most part. Shout out to Tony who made me feel like a VIP. HE is a 5 star rating! The breakfast was one step above military cafeteria. The breakfast staff was great though. Eggs were mushy, potatoes cold, coffee empty. The mini muffins were good though. We went to check out the restaurant but it was like a ghost town so we opted to go into Salem and eat. The room was quiet... We loved that there was a fan in the bathroom. Great shower head. The toilet required multiple flushes just for going number one. Then, we found ants on the counter. I totally understand that ants just have a certain gift of finding their way in but this led to our OMG moment(cue the music from Psycho). I took out my flashlight to locate the entry source of said ants. We were DISGUSTED by the level of filth around the room. From the wall to about a foot out, the carpets looked like they had not been cleaned since 1993. The baseboards were FILTHY! The moulding in the bathroom looked like it was being eaten by something. The patch in the sheetrock was not good. Do yourself a favor and don't EVER look around your hotel room with a flashlight. So had the food been better, the room cleaner, the toilet not been difficult this would have been a four and half rating. In all honesty if it weren't for Tony, it would have gotten a two rating. So as a frequent traveler that relies on reviews from real people I feel it is my duty to share my experience. This place is SO close to being great. You need about two hours in each room to deep clean every six months maybe? It's quiet. It's pretty. It just really missed the mark but the good news is that it's easily fixable. For the price and the "resort" to be taken seriously, time for some deep cleaning and paint. It's not the worst place I've ever stayed but definitely not worth the hype.
