Celebrated a friend's 50th Birthday in style! Rains cleared and the sun lighted our way to a beautiful window table. )Baseboard heaters warmed our enjoyment of wine, clam chowder and fresh seafood. Be it the Halibut Caserol or the Pastitsio, seafood lasagna, the mix of fresh Dungeness Crab with either Halibut or Scallops was certainly a palate pleaser. And a complimentary chocolate delight for the honored guest. Best wishes were sung at several tables as the best time and meal at Hillside House is a great gift!
The server we had was excellent, and very helpful and attentive. She checked with us to see if we needed anything, and got the check to us with perfect timing (approx 7 minutes after were finished dessert) and told us to take our time and no hurry when presented with the check. Love it! The food (Jumbo Prawns) were excellent as usual, the the Ribeye Steak Sandwich was excellent as well. 'We ate in the lounge area which is very cozy and nice.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner as it was his last night before he headed back to work. We heard it was excellent service with great views but we got completely different service. We were seated quickly on the main level, but everyone one else who came in was seated on the level below next to the windows to see the view. Our waitress was very short with us and not very respectful. My boyfriend and I didn’t think much of our seating until 4 other parties walked in and were seated below, while we were the only ones who got seated on the main level. We were very respectful to the staff and were overlooked many times while they would go chat with the other parties. We waited for over an hour for our food and when it came out, it was not hot. Our sides were cold. Steak was cooked well and was warm, but still not the service I was expecting. My boyfriend and I were younger than most of the people in the restaurant, but were the only ones not treated fairly. Honestly the food was good, but I don’t think I would go back considering the way we were treated while we there.
We went there for a special occasion and we were so happy with the food and atmosphere. The quality and variety were great. The appetizers and entrees are excellent. Love the view and feel of the place. We even got a free dessert. Cannot say enough good things about Hilltop House.
