It’s one thing to sip world-class wines from an Adirondack chair with a lovely view.

It’s another thing to pair those wines with a floral design workshop or modern canning class.

The Bounty of Yamhill County — a three-day food and wine event set for Aug. 24-26, 2018 — has been thrilling locals and visitors for the past six years with its roundup of activities highlighting the best food, drink and farm fare of the region.

It all started in 2012, as a one-day, single-event fundraiser for the Yamhill Enrichment Society, a nonprofit that helps local children with arts, literacy and other community-based cultural projects.

The second year it grew to two days, then to three days last year, when it started attracting national and international attention. It’s sure to grow as Oregon wines continue to gain cache among casual sippers and serious vinophiles.

This year’s festivities begin Friday evening, Aug. 24, when ticket-holders can attend one of two “grill and chill” events — winemaker dinners — at Remy Wines in Dundee and Adelsheim Vineyard in Yamhill.

A farm-to-table experience, the Flame & Vine Dinner, is set for Saturday evening in the historic Dundee Hills vineyard of Erath Winery, prepared by Chef John Gorham of Toro Bravo, Jody Kropf of Red Hills Market and Henry Kibit of Sokol Blosser Winery. Live music brought to you by Gypsy Jazz Duo.

There are also immersive events for ticket-holders on Saturday: a “look behind the curtain” tour of Argle Winery‘s sparkling wines and a modern canning class at Red Ridge Farms.

Sunday’s lineup includes a floral design workshop at Crowley House, a Mineral Spring Ranch Provisions food and wine pairing at Soter Vineyards and the marquee “Big Night” event at Sokol Blosser Winery — a walk-around dinner with local chefs’ food and wines from 25 Yamhill County wineries.

Dozens more wineries donate a bottle to the Wall of Wine, the fundraiser on the final night when $25 buys a random bottle of wine, each worth $30 or more.

The Bounty of Yamhill County is a great way to showcase smaller local wineries, organizers say, and get people coming back — for more than just world-class Willamette Valley pinot.
