Today in Oregon, the sun is shining. Fishermen are casting their flies into the rivers, couples are driving to wine country, and families are at the beach building sandcastles and dipping their toes into the Pacific Ocean. And unfortunately, we’re sitting inside writing about it!

This month, we’ve got a lot of fun stuff for you, including a delicious (and easy) salmon marinade recipe, ideas to help you plan your best-ever Oregon summer vacation, and the scoop on our famous Memorial Day Weekend in Wine Country event.

Pass, Set, Spike! It’s the USA vs. France – in Portland! This month, visit Portland to watch the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team, ranked eighth in the world, square off against No. 7 France for two matches (May 26 & May 27).

And what’s more, with events such as the 100th Rhododendron Festival in Florence, the Eugene Scottish Festival, UFO Festival and the one-and-only Portland Rose Festival, there’ll never be a dull moment in Oregon this summer. For all this and more, head to our event calendar or check out 365 Extraordinary Days in Oregon.

We could tell you more but it’s time to play! See you in Oregon!

My wife and I just returned from a visit to Portland Oregon. We went up and back from Southern California on Amtrak’s Coast Starlight. Got to see some beautiful Oregon views that would not have been possible by car or air. Thanks to your emails we found a great Repitory theater in Portland and saw a musical “They Came From Way Out There!” It was fun, yes campy but fun. Also we made reservations and went to the OMSI for a tour of the USS Blueback and the Planetarium. Found some great restaurants thanks to you folks too. Keep up the good work. Our next trip will be in September. I hope to find more great things to do in Oregon thanks to Travel Oregon’s web site.
    Thanks, David & Polly

Talked to one of my company reps today, she lives in Canyonville and she assured me we would enjoy a visit to Oregon. The military veterans group to which I belong will hold it’s reunion in Eugene next year so we are planning to attend. We also have relatives in Eugene so it will be a great trip.

I just returned from another annual trip to your great and beautiful state. It’s never complete without a trip to Newport Beach, or driving the backroads up through the Willamette Valley. Such gorgeous scenery, relaxing or as exciting or as tranquil as one wishes it to be. Visited the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville to view the “Spruce Goose”. Already looking forward to the next trip. Enjoyed the train trip on Mount many things to see and enjoy that you can bet I’ll return next year–and just maybe, retire in your beautiful state some day!
