This summer, don’t just sit there – channel your inner kid and get out and splash! In Oregon, you’ve got your pick of water-infused adventures: jet boat rides, surf lessons, kayak tours, sternwheeler spins and the list goes on.

While you’re at it, why not hit the road? We’ve got a few small-town itineraries that will have you exploring Oregon’s lesser-known areas – perfect fodder for your personal Oregon 150 Challenge.

There are some exciting happenings on the culinary-front as well. This month you can taste more than 70 beers at the 22nd annual Oregon Brewers Fest or try your hand at making Parmesan Fennel Gratin.

See you in Oregon, where we’ve got a lot going on.

About the Author: Rhiannon West Chamberlain

Rhiannon is a native Oregonian who grew up exploring the nooks and crannies of the Oregon Coast and daydreaming in Powell’s City of Books. She now lives in NE Portland with her husband and her new baby boy and looks forward to teaching him to love Oregon as much as she does. Rhiannon attended both the University of Oregon and Portland State University, where she studied Journalism and Mass Media. She claims to ‘bleed green’ and happily cheers for both the Ducks and the Vikings every chance she gets. In her free time, Rhiannon enjoys sipping Oregon Pinot, finding new restaurants, bargain hunting and trying new recipes – sometimes successfully. She has a child-like enthusiasm for trying new things and rediscovering old ones – such as skee-ball, mini golf, and big slides.

Thanks for your recent announcement regarding Splashing Around in Oregon. We are in Oregon. In fact, we are staying at the Royal Villa RV Resort in Bend, Oregon. A wonderful RV park. This evening we enjoyed local foods and drink at a Munch and Music festival in the park along the river. What a wonderful time.

We plan on visiting the High Desert Museum in Bend, play a little golf, visit the local restaurants, tour the Quilt Show in Sisters on Saturday and visit the big community event in Bend on Sunday.

Oregon is a wonderful place to visit.

We did three of the Waterfall hikes from Umpqua National Forest Thundering Waters BLM guidebook on the 4th of July to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We had a blast with our family, hiked, got some beautiful pictures of pristine forest and majestic falls and enjoyed the upper Diamond Lake area away from the heat and crowded lake areas. The hikes are rated from easy to difficult. We also visited Lemolo Lake for a Picnic.

It would be nice to see some more day hikes in the moderate range in and near Southern Oregon.
