The first turn of a new ski season is much like the first present you rip into on Christmas morning when you were five. The anticipation and excitement has been building to a level that only a skier or snowboarder understands. This photo was literally my first turn of the season. It was like getting the ninja throwing stars and BB gun I always asked Santa for but could never seem to get him to deliver. Mother Nature’s good friend La Nina is giving us a early taste to what is shaping up to be one amazing winter. The snow banks will be so high that we can’t see the top, weather forecaster Drew Jackson will go crazy with his “winter storm alerts”, and employers will have a rash of ‘sick’ days being logged by their employees. All I can say is please remember to not post on Facebook how ‘sick’ your day was with photos.

Mount Hood Meadows, Timberline, and Ski Bowl are all off and running with 50 plus inch bases. It is a start to one amazing seasons I can remember. The Mount Hood Inn in Government Camp is recently renovated along with amazing weekday specials making for a fun mid-week getaway, check it out. Pass the word out to friends that have been wanting to visit Oregon but waiting for the right moment. Tell them to come visit Oregon, the best skiing in the west!
