Memorial Day Weekend heralds the opening of most outdoor pools across the country, and Oregon is no exception. As a mother of 2 boys, the prospects of an open pool thrills me as much as it does my kids. As mine have gotten older, I have been able to move from holding them constantly in the water, to teaching them to swim (or watch as they took lessons), to seeing that first time off the diving board to now, being able to stay completely dry if I wish and even being able to bring a chair and a good book as they swim competently in the water. Pools and kids are a match made in heaven, and a mother’s best friend.

Here in Northeastern Oregon we are truly fortunate to have some amazing public aquatic centers, some less than a mile from I-84 if you are traveling through and need a place to cool off or let the kids unwind! All have very low admission prices (4 to 5 dollars for adults, free to 4 dollars for children and teens). As the pool season opens, I thought I’d list a few websites for pools in our area. Enjoy!
