Drew Jackson’s Powder Alert: Another Big Storm Coming
Just about anything you find on TravelOregon.com can be added to your own personal Trip Planner. Find out how.
- This Powder Alert is for FRIDAY, APRIL 2nd and SATURDAY, APRIL 3rd
Here we go again! While we’re still getting lingering snow from the recent monster snow storm, another deep snow producer is brewing in the Pacific and is charging towards Oregon. It’s going to snow hard in the mountains beginning Friday, with significant new snow likely Friday afternoon/evening… and deep powder waiting for you Saturday morning.
From Friday midday through Saturday evening, I expect… at minimum… another foot of snow. It’s possible a few locations could get more than 18″ again. During the midday hours on Friday, the snow level will climb slightly… to around 3,500 feet. But by Saturday morning, the snow level could be as low as 1,500 feet… meaning that Friday night’s and Saturday’s new snow will be cold, dry and fluffy.
This is a strong storm… and the best powder conditions will be in the trees on Friday and Saturday. But don’t overlook this Thursday. A break in the storminess will likely allow access to untouched powder high on the mountain for the first time in several days.
Bottom line… whatever day you choose to visit the mountains this week or weekend, the snow conditions should be outstanding.
Enjoy!
