The Horse and Teal Lake Trail, which circles Horse and Teal Lakes, meanders through lodgepole pine stands and open meadows with great views of Mt. Bailey and Diamond Lake along the way. . A mountain pine beetle outbreak in the area has resulted in the logging of infested trees. Waterlilys add to the beauty of these small ponds as well as waterfowl, deer, and other wildlife that frequent the area.

Directions: From Prospect: Travel northeast on Highway 230 and turn left onto Road 6592. Proceed approximately 1 1/4 miles and turn left onto road 4795. Follow 4795 approximately 1/3 mile and turn right into the South Shore Picnic area. The trailhead is to the left.
