The McKenzie Pass- Santiam Pass Scenic Byway is a beautiful 90.1 mile loop. Along this loop you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the high, snowcapped peaks of the Oregon Cascades. The byway takes you through some of the most impressive lava flows in the country. You can identify peaks at Dee Wright Observatory, see the Three Sisters reflected in Scot Lake, hike a short trail to misty Proxy Falls, and listen to the roar of the McKenzie River over Sahalie Falls. Though this is a spectacular trip at any time, you will want to plan an outing in the fall to see the highways lined with the blaze of fall colors.
Directions: From Belknapp Springs: The byway starts at the junction of Hwys.... #126 and #242.
Seasonal Access: Normally Open: Year-round (The entire loop is usually open between July an November.)
Facility Type: Scenic Byway
