The Mitchell Monument Recreation Area offers six day use picnic sites in a Ponderosa Pine setting. Facilities include picnic tables, fire grills and an accessible outhouse. The area features a historic site; the only place on the American continent where death resulted from enemy action during World War II. In addition, are wilderness trails four miles northeast and other activities include bird watching, wildlife viewing, cold-water fishing, hiking, and horseback riding.
Please pack out your garbage and bring your own firewood and drinking water.
Directions: From Bly: Travel east on Highway 140 and turn left onto Campbell Road. Follow Campbell Road a half mile north to Primary Forest Route 34. Turn right and follow 34 approximately eight miles to Mitchell Monument.
