The Cottonwood Recreation Area is a popular fishing area in a large ponderosa pine and aspen forest setting. The campground offers 21 camp sites (12 tent and trailer sites 9 secluded tent sites) around Cottonwood Meadow Lake. Other facilities include picnic tables and fire grates, drinking water, two boat ramps, and a campground host.
The Cottonwood Trailhead accesses 12 miles of trails (open to hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bike riders) and other activities in the area include boating (electric motors only), bird watching, wildlife viewing, fishing, and swimming.
Directions: From Lakeview: Take Highway 140 west for 24 miles, then turn right on Forest Road 3870. Go on Forest Road 3870 for 8 miles and you should see the campground and trailhead entrance signs.
