The Twin Lakes Loop Trail is a lakefront trail that provides access to the campsites and shoreline of Big and Little Twin Lakes. It passes through old-growth timber and alpine meadow openings that surround the lakes. The large lake has a log framed shelter, constructed in the 1930′s while the small lake offers a log wall shelter, constructed in 1994. Both lakes are maintained for recreational use. The trail features some wildflowers during the spring and summer.
Directions: From Roseburg: Travel east on Highway 138 to Little River Road #17. Follow 17 for 20 miles until it becomes Forest Service Road 27. Continue on 27 to Forest Service Road 2715, about three miles east of the Lake in the Woods Campground. Turn left on 2715 and follow it for eight miles to Forest Service Road 2715-530. Turn left, and follow 2715-530 until it ends at the trailhead for Twin Lakes Trail #1500. It is a two mile hike to Twin Lakes Shelter.
