Crater Lake National Park is one of the country’s crown jewels. No place else on earth combines a deep pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs, almost 2,000 feet high; a picturesque island and a violent volcanic past.

Crater Lake National Park is also host to a diverse array of activities. While enjoying the natural scenic wonders, park visitors may hike in old growth forests, participate in a variety of interpretive activites, camp out or stay at the Historic Crater Lake Lodge, or even cross-country ski during the eight-month-long winters in the high Cascades. The park is always open, but many of the roads and facilities are closed during the winter.

    Inappropriate?

    So amazingly gorgeous. We went in early September and had one day of rain/snow and one beautiful sunny day. On the sunny day we took a boat trip around the lake, which was definitely worth it.

    Highly recommended!
