Just about anything you find on TravelOregon.com can be added to your own personal Trip Planner. Find out how.
McKay Rock offers beach access, and opportunities for beachcombing, picnicking, fishing, clamming, swimming, marine mammal watching, bird watching, and viewing scenery.
The large lawn area is great for blanket picnics. The park is elevated above the ocean. As you walk along the edge, you’ll often have eye-to-eye encounters with the seabirds catching the updrafts from the beach.
Vital stats: There is no fee to use this park.
: The Oregon coast receives abundant rainfall, mostly between October and April. July and August bring the best chance for clear days. Summer temperatures are normally moderate and almost never hot. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long.
Location: McVay Rock is located on Oregon's South Coast, along Highway 101 south of Brookings. Turn off on Oceanview Drive.
