This annual event celebrates the delicious wild huckleberry which grows in surrounding mountains. A community breakfast and all-school reunion kicks off the event from 7-10:30 a.m., the parade follows at 11a.m., craft and food vendors, entertainment, a huckleberry dessert contest and silent auction, a Highland Games demonstration, activities and games for kids, a firemen’s barbecue, the free “world’s longest huckleberry sundae” at 3 p.m., and an outdoor evening showing of a movie and cartoons at dusk. The Huckleberry Hot-Rod Show-n-Shine is held in conjunction with the festival. A truly unique small town festival.
