Roads2 Pendleton Tours: Round-Up Rodeo Adventure
Just about anything you find on TravelOregon.com can be added to your own personal Trip Planner. Find out how.
Come experience the legendary Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo and genuine western hospitality! Watch a Pendleton Woolen Mills blanket being made, say hello to ‘iconic’ Hamleys, tour the ‘rowdy past’ Underground, enjoy coffee at the Rainbow Cafe and stroll the River Walk.
The world-famous Pendleton Round-Up Rodeo began in 1910 as a celebration by farmers, ranchers and native American Indian tribes marking the end of the harvest growing season in Eastern Oregon. It was a frontier exhibition of pastimes, Indian and military spectacles, cowboy racing and bronco busting for the championship of the Northwest. More than 7,000 visitors saw that first show.
Today, it is one of the largest and most prestigious rodeos in the world attracting more than 70,000 visitors. Much more than a western rodeo, it now features an Indian Village, the Happy Canyon Night Pageant, the Westward Ho! parade, the Cowboy breakfast, the Main Street Cowboy shows, native American dancing and beauty contests, western heritage museums, street shows, and casino gambling.
