Milo Academy Covered Bridge

Milo Academy's bridge was built in 1962 and spans 100 feet to cross the South Umpqua River. The bridge is actually made of steel, with a housing of wood.  The structure was built to replace an original covered wooden bridge from 1920.  The bridge provides access to the Milo Academy boarding school. Boyd

What remains of the town of Boyd can be seen by driving south from The Dalles nine-and-a-half miles on U.S. 197. The few homes, some outbuildings, and an abandoned grain elevator are reminders of the once-vital community of 150 to 200 people.  By 1854, Daniel Bolton had settled in the area of Fifteenmile Creek and was raising wheat on the creek bottomland. Bingham Springs Campground

This tiny and rustic campground is located adjacent to a meadow and a small pond in the northwestern portion of the Ochoco National Forest.  The campground is also adjacent to the Twin Pillars North Trailhead which provides access into Mill Creek Wilderness.  The campground is bordered by ponderosa and lodgepole pines, and the open meadow makes for some gorgeous stargazing on warm summer nights.
