Our 19-room vintage hotel is nestled in a small town just 15 south of The Dalles, 40 minutes from Hood River, and 2 hours from Portland. Guests will stay in comfortable rooms that hearken back to the Victorian era, with antique furnishings that are warm and bright. Whether you prefer a day event or a weekend getaway, we have a package to suit your needs.

    Inappropriate?

    The Historic Balch Hotel is a step back in time, but with all the comfort of present-day amenities. Samantha and Jeff offer the kind of hospitality that makes you feel instantly part of the Balch family, but pampered at the same time. This beautiful hotel is set among the rolling hills and features a stunning view of Mt. Hood. It’s the perfect place to stay in the Gorge!
