Low snow years can allow year-round use for most of this trail. Due to heavy use and repeated conflicts, dogs must be on a leash on these trails.

Mountain Bike Description: Ride back on FS 700 and turn left onto FS 4120, riding towards the river. Continue down FS 4120 for a short time until you reach the overflow parking lot and gated road. Pass through the gate and ride along this road for 0.75 mile. Just before you reach a second gate turn left onto a single track. Cross the road at the Big Eddy Rapids parking lot and continue along this trail for 0.75 mile as you cross several abandoned roads and alternate between single track and double track. At the end of the Dillon Falls parking lot follow the single track back to FS 4120 to retrace your route back to Lava Island Falls and the trailhead.

Mostly in the Three Sisters Wilderness, this trail passes by several small springs and through a mix of lodgepole and mountain hemlock forest. This trail is most commonly traveled by horse users making loops into the high country along the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 (PCT). Hikers can make a moderate loop by using the northern portion of this trail to connect the Wickiup Plains Trail #12.1, PCT, and Mirror Lakes Trail #20. Such a loop is best begun at the Wickiup Plains Trailhead or Sisters Mirror Trailhead.
Note: The trail enters the Three Sisters Wilderness Area shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.
a

The lake has populations of rainbow and whitefish. Fishing is restricted to fly fishing only with artificial flies. Boat speed restricted to 10 mph to get out onto the lake and back. Trolling with a motor is illegal.

The lake's unique character is a result of a large lava flow which blocked the flow of Odell Creek. The result is a lake which occasionally covers 3,000 acres. There is no apparent outlet for the lake but the lava block dam permits water to escape to a yet unknown destination. Odell and Ranger creeks feed Davis Lake. However, the flow of these streams does not equal the water lost through the lava. Consequently, the water area of the lake declines steadily throughout the summer season.

Davis Lake has three campgrounds and one boat ramp. East Davis Campground has 33 units, West Davis has 25 units. Both have fireplaces, tables, water with hand pump, and toilet facilities. Lava Flow has 12 units, no drinking water, tables, a boat ramp and toilet facilities.

Don not forget your fishing gear since the Davis Lake offers excellent fishing. Only fly fishing is permitted on the lake itself, but various baits and lures can be used in Odell Creek. Look for the Game Department's sign which delineate the fly fishing only area.

In order to preserve the meadow habitat and to insure against pollution of the lake, you are asked not to camp on the meadow. Motor vehicles are restricted off roads.
"58":
6347
West Davis Campground
Located on Davis Lake the West Davis Campground offers 24 campsites with vault toilets, hand pump water system, picnicking, fishing, access to trails, and bird watching.
"59":
671771
East Davis Campground
Located on Davis Lake this campground offers 33 campsites with hand pump drinking water, and vault toilets. Crescent Lake is 4,000 acres in size and 280 feet deep. The lake has a population of Kokanee, rainbow, brown, lake(mackinaw) trout and whitefish. The forest surrounding Crescent Lake is varied with stands of Douglas fir, white fir and lodgepole pine giving the recreationist a choice in selecting a camping or picnicking spot. Activities are water-skiing, boating, sail boating, windsurfing, fishing, swimming and trails. Several developed campgrounds provide sites to campers. Crescent Lake Campground offers 47 camping units with piped water, paved roads, and a paved boat launching ramp. Spring Campground has 68 units, with paved roads, paved boat ramp and piped water. Contorta Point, a small campground, provides an opportunity for more rustic accommodation. White Fish Horse Camp, which was developed for use by those who like to bring their horses, has 19 camping units.

There are also picnic grounds at Tandy Bay, Tranquil Cove, and Simax Beach. All of these areas have tables, fireplaces and toilet facilities. Simax Beach area has large sandy beaches with a gentle slope out into the water.

Crescent Lake Resort provides the forest visitor with comfortable cabins, the opportunity to purchase the food items which were forgotten at home, fishing tackle and boat and motor rentals.

One may circle Crescent Lake by road. However, only that portion paralleling the west shore is paved. The road around the east side is narrow and roadless.
