Drew Jackson
Drew Jackson is the consulting meteorologist, forecaster and weather broadcast producer for FOX 12’s Good Day Oregon, seen 4:30-9:00 a.m. weekdays. Drew joined KPTV in May 2004 after working as a meteorologist for WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, and for KNDU-TV in the Tri-Cities, Washington. A Portland native and graduate of Beaverton’s Sunset High School, Drew brings to KPTV a unique local understanding of Northwest weather. Always interested in when it might snow, Drew would stay up late as a kid waiting to hear the latest snow-day outlook from former Portland television meteorologists Jim Little, Jim Bosley and Jack Capell. Drew attended college at Penn State University – a school with one of the nation’s leading meteorology programs. He liked learning about the weather so much, that after earning a meteorology degree in 1998, he continued his weather education and received a Master’s degree in 2000. As a Penn State student, Drew was also a member of the university’s Swimming and Diving Team. A scholarship diver often ranked among the top 20 in the country, Drew is still the only diver in Penn State history to be a four-year competitor at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. While no longer a competitive diver, Drew remains involved by serving on the local Tualatin Hills Dive Club’s Board of Directors. He’s also an active Board member with Children’s Nursing Specialties, Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides in-home nursing care to medically-fragile children. Drew is a very good snow skier, a very bad golfer, and he likes to run, travel, and watch college football during his free time.
